Reader Giveaway: One lucky Thrifty Jinxy reader will receive a Monkey Quest prize pack, including a Monkey Quest tote bag, t-shirt and hat, along with an insider’s guide to best navigate the land of Ook. I thought Monkey Quest was a bit reminiscent of World of Warcraft or Everquest in that you can create characters in various “classes”, you build your weapons and abilities, need to keep a eye on your stats, skills, etc….but definitely waaayyyyy more kid-friendly! As you go along there are a lot of arrows and word clues to let you know what to do next, but I'm sure the average 8to12-year-old would need those hings less than I do. The first adventure we encountered was to rescue a chameleon with his tail caught in a rock.
Bananas are the currency of the game and its fun to race around and see them start to add up. This game is seriously cute! To start out you get to design your own monkey and name it – and soon you start out on your first quest. With the hybrid payment model, parents can choose a subscription (1 month, 3 months or a year) plan or a “pay as you go” option through NickCash, Nickelodeon's virtual currency. And they can always find people to play with and something new and fun to do no matter what game level they are at.īut, for those who want a deeper gaming experience, you have the ability to pay to gain access to quests, abilities and other exclusive elements.
